The Home and Property Expo is organised by Ecotrends Ltd in collaboration with UK Trade and Investment (UKTI). The expo will provide its exhibitors with the platform to showcase and promote their home and property products and services as well as energy efficient solutions, architectural, interior and renewable energy products in a rapidly growing Nigerian market.
As an exhibitor, the expo gives you the opportunity to interact directly with your potential customers who are actively looking for your products and services, boost your sales, stay ahead of your competition and help develop long-term business relationships. Exhibitors will also have the opportunity to meet/network with potential business partners.
The Expo offers brands ‘true permission’ marketing, attendees CHOOSE to be there to see the types of businesses that are exhibiting, so exhibitors can get a good Return on Investment from an audience that has CHOSEN to engage with their brand and are interested in the products and services been showcased.
With the rapid expansion of its industries, Nigeria is the largest economy in the sub-Saharan Africa and one of the fastest growing countries in the world. The country has a GDP of $568.5 billion (World Bank 2014) making it the 22nd largest economy in the world, with analysts expecting it to become one of the top 20 economies in the world by 2050.
One of the foremost sectors in Nigeria is construction which is currently value of $69.4billion. The industry is growing rapidly to keep up with countries expanding population of 178.5 million people, a rate of 2.8% each year and an expanding middle class. Nigeria has experienced a rapid pace of urbanization with more than 50 percent of its population living in urban cities. According to the World Bank, it is expected that up to 700,000 houses in different market segments are needed annually to keep up with the demand resulting from the rapid pace of urbanization. With around 100,000 houses being built in the past few years, this has resulted in an overall accumulated deficit of about 17 million units.
In order to provide housing for its populace, the Nigeria government has allocated around $283 billion to build new homes. This is causing the housing and construction industry to expand at an average rate of 9.5% annually, and is forecasted to be the fastest growing construction sector in the world.
Nigeria’s National Housing Policy and National Urban Development Policy will lead to the construction of 1 million new housing units each year until 2020.
This presents a huge opportunity for companies in the housing, interior decoration, construction and renewable industries, because over 80% of all materials and machinery used in the country are imported, and Home and Property Expo is a great platform to meet the market segment with high net worth and ready to do business.
Lagos is the most populous city in Nigeria, and the second fastest-growing city in Africa and the seventh in the world. The latest reports estimate the population of Lagos at 21 million, making it the largest city in Africa and this is where the housing shortage is predominant. Lagos has one of the highest standards of living in Nigeria and in Africa.
Lagos is economically pivotal to Nigeria, generating a significant portion of the country’s GDP. Most commercial and financial businesses are carried out in the central business district situated on the island. This is also where most of the country’s commercial banks, financial institutions, and major corporations are headquartered. The Home and Property Exhibition will take place in the central business area in the island.
Lagos is home to the new 9sq kilometres reclaimed waterfront Eko Atlantic Development which will provide an estimated 250,000 housing units and commercial building, and the project will cost an estimated $6 billion. Lagos is also home to major projects such as the 28,000Sqm Lekki Mall which will be the largest shopping mall in Lagos.
In attendance will be stakeholders in the Nigerian housing industry, senior executives, professionals, high net worth individuals, financier, public officials, manufacturers, real estate developers, entrepreneurs and more, most of whom will be actively looking for products and services for their building design, construction and interior design projects.
The Home and Property Expo will include strategic and enlightening seminar sessions which will run for two days. Various industry experts are being carefully selected and they will be handling high impact topics focused on the housing industry.
Topics will range from how to get mortgages and what to consider, sustainable and affordable housing and challenges, buying investment property, etc. There will also be a panel discussion focused on Affordable housing, building standards, safety and quality of materials.
